Ms. Priya Agarwal Hebbar
Chairperson
Ms. Priya Agarwal Hebbar is a key pillar in Hindustan Zinc Limited’s strategic transformation, championing its transition into a future-ready, multi-metal enterprise. Her leadership is centered on embedding sustainability and digital excellence into HZL's core operations, positioning the company as a global leader in responsible resource stewardship.
Business Management from the University of Warwick, UK.
Since her appointment as Chairperson of Hindustan Zinc Limited in January 2023, Ms. Agarwal Hebbar has accelerated a period of historic growth and structural change.
Under her guidance, the company achieved a historical milestone by surpassing the 1 million tonne mark in mined metal production, testament to operational excellence and strategic foresight, and is now firmly on course to doubling capacity to 2 million tonnes in the coming years.
She is the principal architect of HZL's robust ESG framework, directly overseeing its decarbonisation objectives and setting the path to achieve Net Zero by 2050 or sooner.
Under her leadership, HZL became India’s only member of the ICMM in 2025 and was the first Indian mining firm to have its climate targets validated by the SBTi. The company has also been ranked by S&P Global as the world’s most sustainable metals and mining firm for three consecutive years.
She is spearheading 'Hindustan Zinc 2.0', a bold strategy to evolve from India’s largest zinc producer into a diversified, multi-metal enterprise at the heart of the nation’s critical minerals landscape. With a sharper focus on silver, a vital element for renewable energy and the digital economy, her vision positions Hindustan Zinc as a key enabler of India’s clean energy transition and next-generation national infrastructure growth.
Experience
Ms. Agarwal Hebbar extends her passion for impact beyond the industry, championing causes focused on child nutrition, gender parity, animal welfare, and nature conservation.
Nand Ghar Project: A flagship initiative, the Nand Ghar project modernises the traditional Anganwadis across multiple states. These centres are transformed into modern hubs that deliver state-of-the-art e-learning and early childhood education, combat malnutrition through fortified nutrition, supplements, and primary healthcare, and offer vital skill development and entrepreneurship training for women. This model directly contributes to the holistic development and empowerment of millions in rural India.
Animal Welfare Initiatives (YODA & TACO): Ms. Agarwal Hebbar's deep commitment to animal welfare led her to found the Youth Organisation in Defense of Animals (YODA) in 2010, which operates as one of Maharashtra’s most active welfare organisations, providing 24/7 ambulance services and coordinating vaccination drives. Furthermore, she leads TACO (The Animal Care Organisation) under the AAF, India's first state-of-the-art animal welfare project, integrating leading veterinary professionals and communities to establish a holistic model for animal care.
