Appointment
Mr. Amarendu Prakash was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer and Whole-time Director of Hindustan Zinc Limited with effect from August 1, 2026, having earlier assumed the role of CEO-Designate on July 19, 2026.

Experience
Mr Prakash, prior to joining Hindustan Zinc served as the Chairman and Managing Director of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), where he spearheaded the company's transformation journey through capacity expansion, operational excellence, digital transformation, and sustainability-driven initiatives. His proven leadership, deep industry expertise, and strong track record of driving organizational growth, position him well to lead Hindustan Zinc in its next phase of value creation and strategic advancement.

Prior to assuming the top leadership role, Mr. Prakash held several key positions within SAIL, including Director (In-Charge) of the Burnpur and Bokaro Steel Plants. A Metallurgical Engineer from BIT Sindri, Mr. Prakash joined SAIL in 1991 and has since played a pivotal role in strengthening the organization’s growth, competitiveness, and long-term value creation.
