Udaipur, 24th January 2023: Hindustan Zinc’s Rampura Agucha Mine, under the aegis of Directorate General of Mines Safety, Ajmer, had organized a workshop to spread awareness on the latest mining technologies. The workshop titled “Role of Technology & Innovation in Safe and Productive Underground Metal Mining in India” brought together industry experts to discuss and share their knowledge on the subject.
While interacting with attendees, Shri Satish D Chiddarvar, DDG-North Zone shared his thought around Technologies that mining companies are using in daily routine which can be proved as clear milestone for Sustainable Development.
Adding to the discourse, Shri Arun Misra, CEO-Hindustan Zinc shared his views on the role of technology in the mining industry. He stated that Mining is ever-evolving with new technologies & innovation. He also emphasised on how information technology has helped mining companies to work more effectively, allowing them to monitor the performance of machines in real-time.
Under the chairmanship of SS Prasad, Director (Mining), VRN North Zone, the technical sessions began with Ram Awatar Meena, Director (Mining), Surjit Kateva, DDMS (Mining), Sandeep Srivastava, Director (Mechanical), and U.K. Sahoo DD (Mechanical) presented on Standards and Safety Provisions.
The concluding session was headed by NN Rao, Director (Mining), North Zone, and co-chaired by, Rajeev Krishna Kumar, Director (Mining), in which Srinivas K spoke about Paste Fill Technology at SK Mines, Hindustan Zinc, and Pradeep Kumar spoke about Tummalapalla Uranium Mine Safe at UCIL. Chanchal Manna and Abhishek Kumar Verma of Hindustan Copper Mines, presented Innovative Mining Technology for Sustainable Productive Underground Mining. Lokesh Goyal on Innovation in Rock Bolt Technology. The workshop featured fruitful and meaningful talks aimed at raising knowledge and comprehension of the most recent technology and advances in underground metal mining.
The workshop featured presentations from 16 teams, representing 5 different companies. During the interactive session, attendees were able to ask questions and gain insights from the presenters and the DGMS.
