Udaipur 10th Oct 2022 – Hindustan Zinc, a Vedanta group company and India’s largest & only integrated producer of zinc, Lead and silver, today, on World Mental Health Day 2022, extends its support for adolescents and young adults’ to spread awareness about mental health issues and aims to fight the underlying stigma attached to mental illnesses. Following the ideology, Health Units under its community development program, Hindustan Zinc’s Swasthya Sewa conducted awareness sessions to catalyze and sensitize students about the importance of mental health.
Around 263 students attended the awareness sessions conducted in the government schools of Kotri, Panchdevla, and Dhavditalai in the Bhilwara, Chittorgarh, and Udaipur districts of Rajasthan. The sessions conducted encompassed various sub-topics such as causes of mental illness, identifying the early signs of mental health issues, the ill effects of tobacco, alcohol, and drug addiction on mental health conditions, and the perks of practicing Meditation and Yoga and the mitigating power it holds to fight mental illnesses.
Hindustan Zinc has expanded various healthcare facilities, such as OPD, special health camps, and awareness sessions. A total of 8 Mobile Health Vans operates across 182 villages in Rajasthan and one in Uttarakhand. Stress management, wellness & beyond, peer support groups, and self-help resources with 24/7 access are some of the ongoing projects under Swasthya Sewa initiative. Under the initiative, around 8 mobile health vehicles servicing 8 locations, with 100% of villages covered across all locations, 196 villages across Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, and Gujarat.
