Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is, for us at Hindustan Zinc, the overarching ethos of our business and an inclusive philosophy that drives our key decisions and actions. It underlines our resolute commitment towards raising the quality of life and enabling financial empowerment for the communities around our operations. It is the strength of our on-ground social, economic, and environmental initiatives that are continuously steering the holistic growth of these communities.

In line with this business philosophy, we have adopted a comprehensive CSR charter, encompassing a clearly defined policy and targeted programmes. Our CSR efforts are aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) as well as India’s national agenda. They are focussed on identifying the critical needs of the underserved sections of society and responding to the same with agility.

During FY 2023-24, our CSR programmes benefited the local communities to:

  • 1.9 million Lives positively impacted during FY 2023-24 through our social, economic, and environmental CSR interventions
  • 3685 Villages benefited from our overall sustained CSR programmes
  • Udaipur continued to be provided with sewage treatment facilities and water supply respectively
  • Of the total 1.9 million beneficiaries –
    • 1.39 million women and children benefited through women empowerment programmes like Sakhi self-help groups and microenterprises, education programmes like Nand Ghar, Shiksha Sambal and Unchi Udaan, and other programmes under health, water and sanitation, community asset creation, environment and safety, promotion of culture, etc.
    • 0.13 million beneficiaries skilled through Samadhan, Zinc Football Academy and Zinc Kaushal programmes.

The programmes are aligned to community needs, National priorities and the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals. The projects are carried out in close partnerships with the Government, local communities, and credible NGOs. Our CSR policies and systems are framed and implemented in an efficient manner to ensure deployment of resources to deliver sustainable impact at grassroots.
