Vedanta has signed an MoU with the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India to construct 4,000 new age Anganwadis (Early Childhood Care Centres) called Nandghars across India. This model re-imagines existing Anganwadis into Nandghars equipped with state-of-the art infrastructure including access to e-learning, clean water, sanitation, perennial solar power supply and nutritious food. After the Anganwadi hours, the centre doubles as a hub for entrepreneurship training for women from the community. At HZL, the Nandghar concept is being integrated with the company’s Flagship Khushi & Sakhi projects, so that both the software and hardware are brought together to provide a unique model for women and children. Work on constructing 200 Nandghars are currently underway in Rajasthan.
