Ajmer, 11th Jan 2021: Farmers Day was celebrated under Hindustan Zinc’s Samadhan project at the Community Centre of Kayad village, where around 50 farmers attended the program. The program was arranged to appreciate and felicitate the efforts of some progressive farmers. The farmers who contributed grains to support Hindustan Zinc’s Grain Bank initiative during lockdown period of Covid-19 were felicitated. In addition to this, some of the progressive farmers under project Samadhan were also recognized for their effective and efficient agricultural methods.

During the program, K.C Meena, Director Kayad Mines, appreciated the efforts of the farmers and motivated them to include modern techniques in agricultural activities to increase the production. He also emphasised on ensuring education of their children for better quality of life.
Mr. U.S Gupta Assistant Research Scientist, NRCSS Ajmer emphasised on effective planning as an important aspect to reduce cost of production. He also motivated the farmers to regularly visit Krishi Vikas Kendra to gain adequate knowledge about agricultural techniques and various government initiatives to increase their production.
The Grain Bank initiative was a unique project by Hindustan Zinc launched during the lockdown period. The initiative focussed on food security at the grassroots, where 14,000 kg grains & pulses were contributed and distributed by Sakhi Women & Samadhan Farmers, reaching over 3000 families.
