Water Stewardship

9.41% reduction in freshwater consumption achieved from base year 2020

Key Actions:
  • Dry tailing plant at Zawar mines
  • Commissioned ZLD plant at ZSD (3000 KLD), DSC(3200KLD) and CLZS (600 KLD)
  • Increase use of Udaipur STP treated water
  • Smart real-time monitoring system for freshwater intake and distribution at DSC
  • 8.7 MCM/Annum groundwater recharge potential intervention at RAM
  • Maintaining Zero discharge across HZL

Circular Economy

Goals

3x Increase in gainful utilization of smelting process waste

392859 MT utilization of smelting process waste from base year 2020

Key Actions:
  • 100% Jarosite from Debari smelter being dispatched to the cement industry
  • Jarofix utilisation in road construction
  • Metal recovery from waste
  • Recovery of Sodium Sulphate from effluent stream at ZSD & DSC
  • Treatment of secondaries at ancillaries – DSC & CLZS

Biodiversity Conservation

Goals
  • Protect and Enhance Biodiversity throughout the life cycle.
  • Achieve No Net Deforestation through compensatory afforestation whenever applicable in mining sites, throughout the life cycle.
Progress Status
  • Engagement with IUCN to revise BMP with an objective of NNL/NPI
  • Habitat restoration with 3.4 lacs plantation (from base year 2020) i.e., 34% of the target

Social Impact

Goals

Positively impacting 1 mn lives through social, economic and environmental outcomes

Progress Status

Over 1.7 million lives across 237 villages with sustained CSR interventions and 2,512 villages through initiatives aimed at reducing malnutrition, promoting education, livelihoods and infrastructure developments besides establishing strong community institutions.

Key Actions:
  • 0.32 million - Women and children reached through specific targeted initiatives such as education programmes – Khushi Nand Ghar, Shiksha Sambal, Unchi Udaan, etc. and women empowerment programmes like Sakhi self-help groups and microenterprises
  • 0.059 million - Beneficiaries provided with enhanced skillsets through Samadhan, Zinc Football Academy and Zinc Kaushal programme
  • 1.33 million - People reached through other community development initiatives such as health, water and sanitation, community asset creation, environment and safety, promotion of culture, etc

Diversity in Workforce
