Exploration

Our exploration programme is integral to our growth and future expansions. Successful exploration and subsequent development of mineral assets underline our mission to be the world's largest zinc producer by 2010.

Our exploration philosophy has been to replace every tonne of ore mined with at least one tonne of resource. We focus on developing our Reserves & Resources base through a three pronged approach

• In mine exploration
• Near mine exploration
• Greenfield exploration

We have dynamically increased our exploration focus through a team of 46 geologists employing the latest geophysical, geochemical & GIS technologies and high speed deep drilling equipments.

Exploration activities continued at an accelerated pace during FY 2010. A total of 56,400 meters of Brownfield drilling was completed. Our total reserves and resources base as on 31st March 2010 stands at 298.6 million tonnes containing 34.1 million tonnes of zinc-lead metal.
