Skill Development for Rural Youth

HZL believes that sustainable livelihood opportunities for youth from underprivileged families in communities around its operational areas, leads to a healthier business ecosystem and cconsidering the remoteness and lack of exposure in the communities around HZL locations, HZL has ventured into space of skill development to develop and enhance skills of youth and provide them employment opportunities.

HZL has partnered with various organizations having expertise in developing skills over the years.

  • Currently 71 youth from across HZL locations went to Gurugram under Maruti Suzuki ITI program under CTS scheme.
  • 30 youth were sent to SEDI centre run by Ambuja cement Foundation (Jaitaran) for training in different trades like security guard, microfinance etc. Many of them joined provided employment opportunities
  • Location training centres in partnership with SEDI at Agucha and Dariba are under pipeline planning to reach more than 600 youth, training them in different trades and providing them employment opportunities in the very first year
  • There is another initiative, BPO training centres, being run for graduate youths (both girls and boys). It is an employment linked 6-month training program running in partnership with IISD. Around 40 youth are being trained at Agucha and Dariba location to address the unemployment problems in the area.
